Install BugOwl in about a minute.

The Chrome Web Store listing is in review. Until it is live, install BugOwl directly from this page. It is the same extension that is in review.

Download BugOwl for Chrome
bugowl-extension.zip · Chrome, Edge, Brave and Arc
  1. Unzip the download

Double-click bugowl-extension.zip. You get a folder called bugowl-extension. Keep it somewhere it will stay, such as Documents: Chrome loads BugOwl from that folder.

  2. Open Chrome's extensions page

Paste chrome://extensions into the address bar, then switch on Developer mode in the top-right corner.

  3. Load BugOwl

Click Load unpacked and choose the bugowl-extension folder. The owl appears in your extensions list.

  4. Pin it and sign in

Click the puzzle piece in the toolbar and pin BugOwl. Open it and choose Sign in with Pagerly. Your team's Slack channels, incidents, Jira, Linear and Asana are ready straight away.

  5. Report your first bug

Press ⌥⇧S (Alt+Shift+S on Windows) for a screenshot, or ⌥⇧R to record the tab. The console, network and clicks are already attached.

Chrome may show a banner about developer-mode extensions when it starts. That is expected for a direct install, and it goes away once you switch to the Chrome Web Store version.

Questions

Do I need a Pagerly account? Yes, BugOwl signs in with Pagerly. New to Pagerly? Start free and connect Slack; it takes a few minutes.

What happens when the store listing goes live? Install BugOwl from the Chrome Web Store, then remove this copy on chrome://extensions. You sign in once more and everything else stays.

Is it safe? Authorization headers and cookies never leave the browser, request bodies for URLs you list in settings are never sent, and screenshots and recordings are stored privately by Pagerly. A report is visible only to people who have its link.
